Click "Save" to open the Save dialog window, or click File|Save As, or press Ctrl+S:

To navigate to the appropriate folder click the drop down menu:

or click Last Folder Visited to return to the last folder visited or click Up to go up one level in the folder tree.

To create a new folder click New Folder then enter a new folder name.

To change the view of the file list, click the "View" button and click on the type of view you prefer.

To Choose a name for the file, type the name in the "Object name" box or choose a name from the drop down menu:

To choose a type of the file being saved, use the drop down menu in the "Save as type" box

Each type of file has certain options that can be adjusted by clicking Options. I usually do not change these options but, for example, when saving a JPG file, the options dialog window looks like this:

For a high-quality image you plan to print use a JPG Quality of 90 or 95%, for a lower resolution image you plan to e-mail use a JPG Quality of 60 or 70%.

When you are finished, click Save
